Respiratory tract infections in children

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

With the summer holidays upon us, we are experiencing a significant increase in concerned parents contacting the surgery about respiratory tract infections in children.

Respiratory tract infections may include :-

  • Coughs
  • Colds
  • Sore throats
  • Ear aches

Although they can be uncomfortable, respiratory tract infections can often be treated relatively easily at home by the parent or guardian of the child.

  • The NHS provides key information to help reassure worried parents, and also helps to inspire the knowledge and confidence that is required to treat these types of infections without needing to consult a GP.
  • The NHS website contains valuable information that can help you decide on whether or not to contact your GP surgery if your child is showing signs of a respiratory tract infection.

However, if you are worried about your child, then please do contact the practice where the team can help to make sure that you get the right advice.
